Validation Process

Step 1: Structure Validation

Check directory structure:

plugins/{category}-{name}/

  • [ ] .claude-plugin/ directory exists
  • [ ] plugin.json file exists
  • [ ] knowledge/ directory exists
  • [ ] At least one .md file in knowledge/

Step 2: plugin.json Validation

Required fields:

{
  "name": "string (must match directory name)",
  "version": "string (semver format)",
  "description": "string (1-2 sentences)",
  "author": {
    "name": "string",
    "email": "string (valid email)"
  },
  "knowledge": ["./knowledge/"]
}

Checklist:

  • [ ] name matches directory name exactly
  • [ ] version follows semver (e.g., "1.0.0")
  • [ ] description is present and concise
  • [ ] author.name is "Violet Platform Team"

  • [ ] Authentication info
  • [ ] Rate limiting

Stack plugins must have:

Step 4: Marketplace Entry Validation

Check .claude-plugin/marketplace.json:

  • [ ] Plugin has entry in marketplace
  • [ ] Entry path matches actual plugin path
  • [ ] Description matches plugin.json description

Testing Process

Load Test

  1. Enable plugin in a test project's .claude/settings.json:
{
  "enabledPlugins": {
    "{plugin-name}@violet": true
  },
  "extraKnownMarketplaces": {
    "violet": {
      "source": {
        "source": "github",
        "repo": "violetio/violet-ai-plugins"
      }
    }
  }
}
  1. Start a new Claude Code session
  2. Verify plugin knowledge is available
  3. Test that Claude responds appropriately to triggers

Behavior Test

For agents:

  • Ask Claude to act as the agent role
  • Verify it follows the system prompt
  • Check output matches specified format

For workflows:

  • Walk through each phase
  • Verify triggers work correctly
  • Check outputs are produced

Common Issues
