Marketplace Description Writer

Purpose

This skill creates structured, shopper-friendly product descriptions for marketplace detail pages and independent ecommerce stores. It goes beyond bullet points to build a complete page narrative: an above-the-fold summary that hooks, a benefit-led body that persuades, a specs section that informs, and trust cues that reduce hesitation. Optimized for Amazon product descriptions, Shopify product pages, Etsy listings, and general store detail pages.

Workflow

  1. Product & buyer intelligence — Identify product category, target buyer intent (gift, personal use, professional, bulk), and marketplace constraints (character limits, formatting rules, allowed media references).
  2. Claim-safe fact bank — Build a structured repository of verified facts: materials, dimensions, certifications, usage scenes, care instructions, warranty/policy terms, and any differentiation from category alternatives.
  3. Structure selection — Choose a description architecture based on product complexity and buyer journey:
    • Simple products: Benefit hook → 2–3 key features → specs → CTA
    • Complex/technical products: Benefit hook → problem context → solution walkthrough → deep specs → trust section → CTA
    • Emotional/lifestyle products: Scene-setting hook → aspiration → product as hero → social proof → CTA
  4. Section drafting — Write each section with scannable headers, short paragraphs (2–3 sentences max), and natural keyword inclusion without stuffing.
  5. Trust cue insertion — Weave in certifications, policy reminders, origin stories, or material guarantees where they support the buyer's decision.
  6. Review checklist — Provide a final QA list: spec accuracy, claim verifiability, marketplace rule compliance, tone consistency, SEO phrase coverage.

Purpose: Generate a complete product description page from a product brief.

Safety Rules

  • NEVER fabricate awards, press mentions, celebrity endorsements, or user testimonials
  • NEVER create false scarcity language ("only 3 left," "selling out fast") unless the seller confirms real inventory status
  • ALWAYS preserve exact specifications — rounding dimensions or weights creates return risk
  • ALWAYS flag any health, safety, or efficacy claims for human review before publishing
  • ALWAYS include appropriate disclaimers for products in regulated categories (supplements, baby, electrical, chemicals)
  • NEVER compare to competitors by name in a way that could be considered disparagement
